Goddess of the Morning Light

By Dora Wright

dawnGoddess of the Morning Light
breaking through the swirling mist,
planting your feet in the waiting earth
holding the world in your velvet fist

Spread your bounty far and wide
up and down the mountain side
over the dried out river beds
where swans so regal once did glide

Goddess of the sun and rain
bringer of life to arid plain
rejoice in power above us all
resplendent in your vast domain

Goddess of the Morning Light
fill the earth with nature bright
the flowers, birds, trees and fruit
grow beautiful in thy sight.
