Get your Goddess Shine On
Issue 18 Autumn 2011

Goddess Contemplation

My intent is to let love and light radiate from me and radiant love and light to all.

A great way to start every day is to face the rising sun, open your arms, breathe the light and embrace your own unique inner light. Life really is a celebration!

by Tracey Jewel

As a child I always felt like the “outsider” not thinking I was the best at anything. I wasn’t the prettiest, the best at sports or the smartest. In fact I just sort of faded my way into the background. One of my nicknames was plain Jane (my middle name was Jane).

Sunlit FieldIn my late teens I “blossomed” physically which attracted attention or the first time in my life! Spending so much time working on my outer sparkle, I still didn’t know who I really was inside. Over time and “growing up” with much soul searching, seminars and a few D& M visits to the psychologist’s couch I did learn to bloom from the inside out. I even changed my middle name from Jane to Jewel as my husband and I have a running narrative that I was a rough diamond in the dirt waiting to be discovered. Aren’t we all?

Aren’t we all waiting for our time to shine? Waiting for someone of something to notice our inner sparkle? That shining part of us is in their somewhere, waiting for the light to be let out.

Here are some tips I have learnt along the way...

  • Be kind to others each day. Stop gossiping, judging or putting down others—this will not bring out your best.
  • Minimise stress and de clutter your mind. Stress is the number one barrier to bring out your inner shine. Find ways to relax and unwind at the end of the day, even if it’s just sitting still for a few minutes.
  • Be honest. How can we glow with inner beauty with masks of lying to others and ourselves? Telling the truth is freeing. Remember a time when you told the truth and how good it feels when you come clean about a lie and the relief you felt afterwards?

One of my favourite quotes is by Elizabeth Kubler-Ross: “People are like stained glass windows, the true beauty can be seen only when there is light from within. The darker the night, the brighter the windows”. Actively think about radiating positive thoughts like joy, love and gratitude just like the sun radiates warmth and daylight. Just like nothing can impact the sun’s ability to radiate (bar a few moving clouds) let no negative feelings or thoughts impact your ability to shine from within. Choose to reflect you love and light even more in these situations.
